Juicy are bespoke Pickups for guitar and bass, handmade by Lucy and Ray
Cooper. (Ray Cooper Guitars,
trading since 1971)
Lucy has been Ray's apprentice in luithery for over the last ten years,
specializing in Pickup winding/construction and working for a huge range of
customers.
For the last five years, Lucy has been building all the bespoke Pickups on
Ray's custom instruments
and for his very exacting customers.
"Since I started making Pickups for my dad, I have always loved it! I
enjoy all the jobs I do at the workshop, which ranges from the set ups to
rewiring vintage Gibson's. But Pickup winding has to be my favourite!
Dad used to say I was more patient than him but I think he saw how happy it
made me, having something
I made played live on stage by someone famous!!!
At the very beginning dad got me to put my name on every Pickup I made. Just
like the original Fender ladies did in the 50's/60's and still do to this day,
for the Fender Custom Shop.
Over the years with this in mind, dad and myself came up with the name 'Juicy'
which is of course my nick name....... Juicy Lucy!!
Dad (Ray) designs all Pickups and together we produce Pickups with exacting and
intricate detail to quality and sound." Lucy.
Every Juicy Pickup is hand-made completely from start to finish. They
are all hand Scatterwound one at a time, which may take time but by winding all
the coils by hand we can produce a much clearer Pickup with superb sound detail.
Materials on Pickups vary but we use only the highest quality.........
Alnico magnets..... Nickle silver baseplates.....
Hook up wire...Vintage Cloth (Fender style).....Vintage Braided (Gibson
style).....Shielded 4 Conductor
A choice of Gold or Chrome Screws/Covers on all Humbuckers and Telecaster neck
Pickups.
All Pickups are made at the Ray Cooper Guitar workshop which is located in
Hertfordshire.
The following are just some of the Bands/Musicians we have had the pleasure to
build or rewind Pickups for.....
